Use the following story about poisonous plants to help you learn and remember them all!

Mr Horsey and the Poisonous Plants

Can you spot the poisonous plants in the story ? (Written in capitals)

One day Mr. Horsey was wandering along through the countryside when he heard a noise from up a tree. It was Mr Squirrel sitting high up in the ranches of a big oak tree . Mr Squirrel shouted down and asked Mr Horsey “would you like to eat some of my ACORNS?”
Mr Horsey said “no because they are poisonous to me”

Mr Horsey then noticed something different about Mr Squirrel that day, so he asked Mr Squirrel what he was wearing that was different.
Mr Squirrel replied “oh it’s my new glasses, my DEADLY NIGHT SHADEs that I’m wearing, do you like them?”
Mr Horsey said no, because they are poisonous to me.”

At that point Mr Woodpecker butted in and said “excuse me for interrupting, but would you prefer my WOODY NIGHT SHADEs?
Mr Horsey said “no because they are poisonous to me”.

At that point Mr Fox walked along on his way out for the evening and again butting in to the conversation said “well, I’ve got a pair of BLACK NIGHT SHADEs would you prefer them?”
Mr Horsey said “no because they are poisonous to me”.

Mr Fox looked disappointed but did not give up “well do you like my new pink FOXGLOVEs‘?”
Mr Horsey said “no because they are poisonous to me as well”.

Mr Fox then said “well I’m just off on my way out now, would you like to come with me and eat some hens for tea?”
“How do we do that” asked Mr Horsey, “as they will all be locked up in their pen for the night?”
To which Mr Fox replied “well first of all you have to break through the lock and then you just walk right in and …..”
“Whoa right there” said Mr Horse, “I can’t do that because you see the HEMLOCK is poisonous to me”

Mr Fox looked very angry at the thought of missing his tea, and said to Mr Horsey “well I shall just have to eat your tail instead, otherwise I might just starve.!
“Oh, No” said Mr Horsey “you can’t do that because HORSETAIL is poisonous to me and it might just be poisonous to you too.“

Mr Fox calmed down and thought of something else he could do with his friend Mr Horsey that evening instead.
“I know, would you like to go to the pictures with me and watch LAUREL and Hardy?!
“No” said Mr Horsey, “because LAUREL is poisonous to me”.

Mr Horsey then got bored with Mr Fox and his suggestions, “I’m tired now, could YEW just go away please Mr Fox and leave me in PRIVET”
“No” said Mr Fox “because PRIVET is poisonous to YEW!”

At that point Mr Fox began to feel hungry again and asked Mr Horsey “well would you like to come back to my den and have a hot BUTTERCUP sandwich instead?”
To which Mr Horsey replied “no because LABURNUM my tongue every time on hot BUTTERCUPS and anyway they are poisonous to me.”

Mr Fox took his pink FOXGLOVEs off and held his paws up in despair “well what should we do then?” Mr Horsey replied “I don’t know, but could you please put your pink FOXGLOVEs back on because your paws are covered in RAGWORTs and they are both poisonous to me”.

And with that, the outraged Mr Fox shouted “IVY had enough of this!” to Mr Horsey as he walked off, and as he disappeared into the distance, Mr Horsey shouted “and that’s poisonous to me too!”
